If you've never subscribed to a dog box before, one of the obvious questions is: what exactly is inside? It's a fair thing to want to know before you commit to a monthly payment, and the honest answer varies enormously depending on who's putting the box together.
Here's what's inside a Postman Pooch subscription box — and what we think separates a genuinely good box from one that just looks impressive in a photo.
The Treats
Every box includes natural treats — not just one variety, but typically two or three different types so there's genuine variety each month.
Natural chews. Long-lasting options that give dogs something proper to work on. Think dried tendons, fish skins, lamb ears — things with real texture and nutritional value rather than compressed starch shaped to look like a bone.
Training treats or soft rewards. Small, soft, and motivating — good for rewarding good behaviour throughout the month.
Seasonal and themed treats. Depending on the time of year, boxes include treats that reflect the season. These are always natural, never just novelty.
What you won't find: artificially coloured treats, compressed chews with a list of additives longer than the nutritional information, or anything we wouldn't be happy giving our own dogs.
The Toys
Most boxes include one to two toys, matched to the size and chew style indicated when you sign up.
A plush or novelty toy. Something fun and engaging — often with a squeaker, often themed around the season. These rotate so you're not getting the same toy twice.
A more durable option. A rope toy, a rubber toy, or something with a bit more substance. If you're on our tough plan, this gets upgraded to specifically heavy-duty options.
The Extras
Our boxes typically include at least one extra — something that makes the unboxing feel like a proper occasion. This might be a bandana, a birthday card if the month falls near your dog's birthday, a seasonal accessory, or a little something for the owner. The extras change every month and we don't announce them in advance — because the surprise is part of the point.
