There are times when cancelling a subscription is absolutely the right decision. There are also times when it's a reaction to something easily fixed, and pausing or adjusting would serve you better. We'd rather be honest about this than try to talk you out of everything.
When Cancelling Makes Sense
Your dog's needs have changed significantly. A dog who develops a serious allergy or moves to a specialist diet may not be well-served by a standard subscription box.
You're consistently not using what's in the box. If treats are piling up and toys are being ignored, something isn't right.
The quality has dropped. A subscription that started strong and gradually got worse isn't worth keeping out of loyalty.
Your budget has changed. Life happens. If a subscription no longer makes financial sense, cancelling is the right decision.
When Pausing Might Serve You Better
You're going through a temporary period of change. Moving house, a holiday, a new baby — good reasons to pause rather than cancel.
The box isn't quite right but the concept is. Contact the provider. A good subscription service will work with you to adjust rather than lose a customer.
Your dog is going through a health issue. If your dog is unwell and on a restricted diet temporarily, pausing means you don't have to go through the signup process again when they're better.
How We Handle It at Postman Pooch
Our subscription boxes can be paused or cancelled at any time — no phone calls, no guilt trips, no complicated hoops to jump through. We genuinely believe that if the service is good, people stay. If something isn't right about your box, get in touch before you cancel. We'd rather fix it.
